When you’re hiking, there are a lot of things to take care of. From making sure your pack is balanced to keeping track of the time in case you need to turn around and head back before dark, it can be hard for anyone-especially if you’ve never been out on the trail before. One thing that’s easy? Bringing snacks! When it comes to picking snacks, there are many options available. In this blog post, we will talk about what makes good hiking snacks and how they can help improve your trail experience.

 

1. Granola or Protein Bars

Granola bars are one of the best snacks to bring on your hiking trip because they’re light and easy to pack along with you. I like Pure Protein bars because they’re compact, low in sugar, and pack a whopping 20g of protein per bar!

It’s perfect for hiking because it provides you with protein and carbohydrates, as well as giving your taste buds something to look forward to! Just make sure not to bring too many snacks with high sugar content so that they don’t give you the same sluggish feeling as eating a candy bar.

Beef jerky is a trail-friendly snack that can be eaten on the trail or in camp. It’s perfect for hiking because it’s high in protein and low in sugars, but you should make sure to buy the right types of beef jerky as some contain preservatives which might not tolerate well during an active hike.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are trail-friendly snacks that you can pack in your backpack or simply place on the outside of your bag. They’re high in carbohydrates but also provide protein which is great for hiking!

It should be eaten in moderation though, as it may get a bit messy! Also, they tend to keep pretty well without any refrigeration.

Whether you’re looking for something salty or sweet, there’s plenty here from granola bars and beef jerky to fig bars and dried fruit.
