Port Hudson State Historic Site

Port Hudson State Historic Site is the site of the longest siege in American history, lasting 48 days. Nearly 8,000 Confederate soldiers held out against 40,000 Union troops. The six-mile hike around the site features artillery displays, observation towers, and steep earthworks that were once heavily fortified. An on-site museum is an excellent place to learn more about this historic siege and is often the catalyst for many living history events including re-enactments and weapons demonstrations.
